A few things that are undeniably glorious: when someone who you were planning on canceling plans with texts you to cancel first; when you order a shared Uber, but no one else gets picked up so you get a solo ride for the shared price (I repeat: glorious!); and the very, very short season when fall foliage blankets the city.
It’s that third glorious thing I want to talk about today, because we should all be soaking in as much fall foliage as we can before the city turns into one behemoth concrete mass, devoid of color, for months on end. To help you get your fair share, on Thursday, the folks at John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge in South Philly are hosting a Fall Colors Hike—it’s free, and will no doubt be a lovely way to spend the afternoon.
Along with that dose of color therapy, we’ve rounded up six ways to improve upon your week, from making the broccoli recipe to end all broccoli recipes to cheering on runners at the Philadelphia Marathon. Add a few of these to your calendar and watch your week instantly improve.

Monday
Make far-from-boring broccoli! This recipe from the brilliant folks at Healthyish is the perfect meal-prep replacement for a more traditional Caesar salad—it’s got some of the elements (including the most important: anchovies and parmesan), but trades lettuce for broccoli. Make a big batch at the beginning of the week, then serve it with fish, atop grain bowls, or with your favorite protein for lunches and dinner for days. Do it.
Tuesday
Sweat, then sushi: The folks at Nunu (which is a VERY convenient couple of hundred feet away from City Fitness Fishtown) just revamped their menu to offer way more sushi than the previous five or so rolls. Our suggestion: Sweat it out at Jenna Stern’s 5:45 p.m. Ignite class, then treat yourself to a few tuna rolls. Do it.
Wednesday
Upgrade your gym bag. It’s cold out there, and this much-talked-about Embryolisse moisturizer, beloved by makeup artists, is a true savior for anyone whose skin turns from radiant to parched AF come freezing-cold temps. Consider it a post-gym-shower essential. Do it.
Thursday
Get your last dose of fall foliage: John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge in South Philly is hosting a fall colors hike—that’s a hike where you ohh and ahh at all the beautiful fall foliage before it’s all gone (pretty self-explanatory)—which is, perhaps, the most glorious way you could spend a November afternoon. Do it.

Friday
Get away: You know you’re getting old when you’re willing to pay for a weekend of doing absolutely nothing in the middle of nowhere—and that’s exactly what these oh-so Instagrammable Getaway cabins nestled in nature, including getaways in the very driveable Catskills, offer. And considering their popularity, I guess I’m not alone in my desire to do nothing, nowhere for 48 hours straight. Do it.
Saturday
Have a grown-up poptart: Cake Life just debuted seasonal Apple Butter poptarts. Two words: Yes, please. Do it.
Sunday
Scream your lungs out! It’s Philadelphia Marathon weekend, so do your good deed for the day and help the 30,000 runners who are tackling 26 miles on foot make it to the finish line. Bonus karma points for a funny sign. Do it.
