You know that Instagram quote that’s all, “2020 is three months away, don’t let anyone waste your time”? Well, I feel that. And I feel like that ominous someone who would waste my time is, um, in fact, me.
I find myself repeating the same nightly routine almost every weeknight: finish work, make dinner, watch an episode of the Affair, walk dog, go to bed. Considering we live in a city with plenty to see and do, this is a shame.
The remedy: I’ll be choosing one of the evening adventures below—a fun Fishtown First Friday! Taco Tuesday! A (pay-what-you wish) night at the museum!)—to add to my calendar this week. Suggest all you fellow routined-to-the-point-of-being-a-bore readers do the same. Along with ways to liven up your evenings, there are also ways to upgrade your work day and your snacking game. I.e. A little something for everyone.
Monday
Work smarter. If the Sunday Scaries get the best of you every week, it could have something to do with how you’re organizing your work days. The Pomodoro Technique is easy to apply—work for 25 minutes straight on one task, no distractions, then take a 5-minute break to catch up on emails, etc.—and has truly changed my life. Because staying on-task in the world of Instagram is no easy feat, am I RIGHT?! Apply it and see if your work day get a little less scary. Do it.

Taco Tuesday! But first, shake off the stress of your day at Hip-Hop Cardio at our East Market location. Conveniently, our East Market outpost is just a couple blocks from El Rey, which boasts bangin’ tacos (and tasty margs, too). Do it.
Wednesday
Wander the Art Museum. Admission is pay-what-you-wish every Wednesday from 5 to 8:45 p.m., making for the perfect mid-week date spot with your S.O. or yourself. Do it.
Thursday
Toast to fall: Morgan’s Pier is getting a fall makeover this year, with Fall Fest running through October. Expect your typical Morgan’s Pier get-up (think: plenty of water views and seasonal cocktails), plus pumpkin decorations galore and special events. Do it.
Friday
Start your art collection! Sadly, the Lululemon Local in Fishtown (two doors down from City Fitness Fishtown) is closing—but they’re hosting one last party before they do. On First Friday, they’re throwing a shindig where they’ll be showcasing the art of 10 local artists, hosting musicians, and more. Sounds like pretty sweet post-workout plans to me! Do it.

Become a kitchen queen/or king with this nut butter recipe. When I think about the amount of money I could have been putting toward something that lasts for more than four minutes—a house! A vacation! Therapy!—that has instead gone toward nut butter bars (lookin’ at you, Perfect Bars), I want to audibly sob. Thankfully, Bon Appétit has created a nut butter bar so you don’t follow in my footsteps. Do it.
Sunday

Run for donuts! Philadelphia Runner is incentivizing your Sunday run with a truly special reward: Federal Donuts. Yes, please! They’ll be hosting the free three-mile fun run, leaving from their shop (and ending with the goods), at 9 a.m. Do it.
