Holiday lights are like Girl Scout Cookies: If you don’t love them, there’s a 97 percent chance you don’t like most things. Twinkling, blinking and brightening up our very grey city, they are pretty much beloved by all. Which is why the turnout for the annual Holiday Lights Run, led by the South Philly Striders and the Fishtown Beer Runners, is always epic. Join them on the fun this Thursday!
Along with a fun run that’s sure to brighten your week (pun fully intended), we’ve also lined up six other workouts (toasty-warm yoga, anyone?), eats (see: a new game-changer breakfast sandwich) and activities (who else still needs to buy, um, all their holiday gifts?) to make your week better. Take your pick!
Warm up! If turning your heat to 85 degrees at home feels a bit financially irresponsible to you, not to worry: We’ve got you covered in the Logan Square Focus studio. Hit up Warm Vinyasa Flow at 6:30 p.m. for a class that will help get your mind right for the week and make up (at least a bit) for this week’s rainy and cold forecast. Do it.
Banish breakfast boredom: Philly knows how to do a breakfast sandwich—whether you’re grabbing a food cart rendition or a fancy Spread Bagelry take, it’s hard to go wrong—and, knowing what the people want, Merkaz, Michael Solomonov’s newest spot, has created an egg-in-a-pita rendition that is beyond drool-worthy. There’s labneh, y’all. Do it.
Required reading: Per the New York Times, a recent study found that the exercise you’re getting in now (and the muscle mass you’re gaining) can pay off big decades down the line. Read up, then employ this knew knowledge as motivation next time you feel like skipping your workout. Do it.

See the lights! South Philly Striders and the Fishtown Beer Runners are teaming up again for their annual Holiday Lights Run, which doubles as a food drive for Philabundance. All are welcome to join in along the four-mile course, which showcases some of Philly’s most impressive holiday lights and decorations. Do it.
Toast to the freakin’ weekend! For a comfy seat, a creative cocktail and head-turner views to boot, head to Irwin’s. (Because we can’t have rooftop bars when temps are in the 30s, but this comes close.) Do it.
Cut your tree! (And call it arms day.) The folks at Be Well Philly have very kindly put together a list of 20 farms where you can cut down your very own Christmas tree around Philadelphia. Do it.
Cross all the names off your shopping list! Fear not, holiday-shopping procrastinators: There are plenty of markets going on this weekend to help you out. To name a few: Art Star’s holiday pop-up market at Cherry Street Pier and the Clover Market in Bryn Mawr.
