Because life is all about balance, this week offers up two very different—yet equally exciting—openings in Philly. The first: a Detroit-style pizza spot, Emmy’s Squared, that hails from Brooklyn is now open in Queen Village. Next up: Your skin’s antidote to all that grease, Heyday—a beautiful skincare oasis—opens on Chestnut Street this week. Like I said: Different, but equally squeal-worthy.
Along with penciling a visit to both of those spots into your week, we’ve rounded up recipes, lunchtime workouts, Halloween-themed bars and more that deserve a spot on your calendar. Check them all out below.
Monday
Do lunchtime better. You can catch Vinyasa Yoga at our East Market location at 12:15 p.m. Breathe in calm, breathe out those Monday blues, and make a pitstop at Honeygrow on your way back to the office. Way better than sad-desk-lunching your time away, right? Right. Do it.

Tuesday
Get in the Halloween spirit! Remember Tinsel, the Christmas-themed bar people went nuts for last year? Well, this year, it’s transformed into the Nightmare Before Tinsel for the month of October. Decor: all things spooky. Do it.
Wednesday
Get your greens! Farmers are turning out some beautiful greens right now, from baby broccoli to kale to rainbow chard. Old City’s farmers’ market on Church Street runs from 2 to 7 p.m. and Taproot Farm always has the goods. Do it. (Then make this kale fried rice. Mmmm.)
Thursday
Learn how to say no. It’s Thursday, and if you’re feeling burnt out, you are not alone. Get ahead of that feeling next week by taking this career coach’s advice on learning how to say no—you know, without getting fired or pissing off all your friends. Do it.

Friday
Pizza night! Emmy’s Squared, a Brooklyn-born Detroit-style pizza joint, seems like a magical place. Case in point: They manage to douse pizza in ranch and somehow retain a classy vibe. If that’s not magic, I don’t know what is. And lucky for all of us, they just opened their first Philly outpost in Queen Village. Classy ranch pizza, here we come. Do it.
Saturday
Get emo during your workout: The Class by Taryn Toomey, a one-of-a-kind New York-based workout, perhaps known best for eliciting tears from its participants during class (in a good way), is on a tour, stopping in Philly on Saturday. Do it.
Sunday
Treat yourself: Heyday, a skincare haven (seriously: look! Their spas are the stuff Pinterest boards are made of), just opened on Chestnut Street. Their goal is to make skincare feel more like a part of your routine, rather than a splurge, so the price point for their treatments is lower than most, with facials starting at $65. Do it.
