Everyone has their own way of getting into the holiday spirit: For some, it’s taste-testing every egg nog at Wegmans (no judgment here—what is Wegmans for if not the samples?!). For some, it’s alternating between watching Love Actually and belting out Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” for the entire month of December. And for some, getting into the holiday spirit means donning a Rudolph nose and prancing through the trails of Manayunk. (I repeat: No judgment.)
If you fall into the latter camp, below are four holiday-themed fun runs (one even involves Rudolph noses!) to join in on from early December through New Year’s Eve. Happy holidays!
Manayunk Rudolph Run
When: Saturday, December 8, at 9 a.m.
Where: Meet at 4358 Main Street, Manayunk
This annual fun run, put on by Philadelphia Runner, will propel you into a state of holiday cheer: There are red Rudolph noses to wear, decking oneself out in holiday lights and apparel is encouraged, and the all-paces run along the Manayunk Canal ends back at Philadelphia Runner’s shop for hot cocoa and holiday treats. Yes, please. You’ll just need to bring some canned items for entry.
Holiday Lights Run
When: Thursday, December 13, at 7 p.m.
Where: Meet at Columbus Square, South Philly
This four-mile run takes over the streets of South Philly to tour some of its most-spectacular lit-up and Santa-lined streets. All paces are welcome and holiday attire (reindeer ears! Lights! Santa sweaters!) is encouraged. The run is free to join in on, but organizers will be collecting canned and non-perishable foods for Philabundance at the start, so consider that your entry fee.
Jingle All the Way 5K
When: Saturday, December 15, at 9 a.m.
Where: 222 Lakeshore Drive, Marlton
The flat-and-fast course for this Jersey race, which doles out jingle bells for all at the finish, makes it an especially fun option for those with a competitive streak. Entry is $20 and, along with your snazzy new bell, gets you chip timing and awards for the top finishers.
Resolution Run 5K at Levante Brewing
When: Sunday, December 30, at 10:30 a.m.
Where: 208 Carter Drive, West Chester
If you’ve been known to procrastinate on your New Year’s resolutions, running this 5K will ensure you spend at least 20 minutes thinking about ‘em before January hits. The run, benefiting Fame Fire Company of West Chester, ends with a free brew for all above 21. And if you get in early, it’s quite the deal: Registration starts at $1 and increases by $1 every day leading up to the race.
