March is National Nutrition Month! This year’s theme is “Put Your Best Fork Forward” meaning every bite counts. No one should be eating something because they have to. Eating is an experience that is meant to fuel your body and your mind. Listening to what your body is telling you is as important as all the ways you take care of your body. You want to create an eating style that incorporates your favorite, healthful foods and helps you reach your wellness and fitness goals.
A Few Ways to Celebrate National Nutrition Month
One way to create a more flexible eating style is to experiment with new, healthful ingredients and cooking at home. You can open up a whole array of new options just by cooking at home. Try one new vegetable a week or even one new recipe a week until you find more things you enjoy. Don’t forget that how much you eat is just as important as what you eat! It’s all about portion control. Listen to your body telling you that you need that cookie, but be aware of the serving size!
“National Nutrition Month is all about bringing attention to proper nutrition…”
Fitness is also similar to eating. You need to find a style that is right for you while also listening to your body on days when it’s telling you it needs a break! Find a new gym class, lifting schedule or new at home workouts that work for you.
As always, remember there is a Registered Dietitian ready to help you with your nutrition needs.
