This past winter lasted well into spring, so you better believe I damn near sobbed like somebody’s grandmother meeting the Pope when I realized that outdoor yoga season was almost upon us.
Praise be to the weather gods, am I right? To help you soak up some much-needed vitamin D, below are four outdoor yoga series in Philly to have on your radar during these warmer months. Bonus: A good chunk of them are donation-based, meaning they won’t cost you an arm and a leg.
4 Outdoor Yoga Series to Have on Your Radar Right Now
When: April 28th through November, Mondays through Thursdays at 7 a.m. and 6 p.m.; Fridays at 7 a.m.; Saturdays and Sundays at 9:30 a.m.
Where: Race Street Pier, Delaware Avenue
Now in its fifth year, this beloved yoga series led by instructor Malik Wilson will offer upward of 300 donation-based downward dog sessions on the pier, with classes going down every day from April 28th through November. Amazing, right? There’s no need to sign up ahead of time; just show up with your mat during any class time. Oh! And parents and parents to fur babies, let it be known: Kids and well-behaved pups are also welcome.

During the warmer months, this series, also in its fifth year, meets along the Schuylkill Banks multiple times each week for all-levels, donation-based yoga sessions. As a bonus, after you get your sweat on, you’re in the perfect spot for a picnic—so don’t forget your brunch basket.
When: Twice-monthly classes start in June; look to the calendar for dates.
Where: Bok Bar, 800 Mifflin Street
Bok Bar, the South Philly rooftop bar known for boasting some of the best views of the city, will be bringing their rooftop yoga series back for a second season this June, teaming up with KG Strong to bring folks donation-based classes all summer long. Two words: HECK yes. They have yet to announce dates, so keep an eye on their events calendar for the kickoff.
When: Pop-up dates starting May 9th; keep an eye on their Facebook page for announcements.
Where: Locations vary.
Remember when hgAthletics (that’s Honeygrow’s fitness arm, for the uninitiated) put on a series of yoga classes in awesome spots like Cira Green, 30th Street station and more last year? Well, they’re bringing the series back and the locations are always a surprise, but we hear there are some pretty sweet spots in store. Stay tuned to their Facebook page for event updates.
